Do not repay the missed walk

Doubling the next session turns absence into debt and can make restarting feel harder. Resume with the walk that belongs to today, at an effort appropriate for how you currently feel.

Make the first return deliberately easy

The purpose of the return walk is to re-establish the cue and finish feeling capable of another. Distance and pace can rebuild after the act of starting feels normal again.

Name what interrupted the pattern

Travel, illness, weather, schedule changes, pain, and boredom require different fixes. A specific cause suggests a specific adjustment; a general promise to “try harder” does not.

Protect the second walk

One return can be a burst of guilt. The second return is the beginning of the routine. Before finishing the first walk, identify when the next realistic opportunity will occur.

Restart small, without punishment. The habit is the return itself.
